RaboDirect Wins Best Financial Services Website Accolade at the 2010 Digital Media Awards

Tuesday 9th March 2010: Online savings and investment bank RaboDirect has been awarded the Best Financial Services Website ahead of contenders AIB and National Irish Bank at the annual Digital Media Awards ceremony which took place on Thursday 25th February at Dublin's Crowne Plaza Hotel.

Launched in 2003, the Digital Media Awards were engineered to raise awareness of the emerging digital media sector in Ireland and more importantly to act as a showcase for the varied dynamic works being created by companies and third level institutions across the broad spectrum of categories in Digital Media. The category for Best Financial Services Website was designed to recognise innovative and creative delivery of financial solutions, business processes and educational finance related material.
Commenting on the win, Roel van Veggel, General Manager said, "We go to great lengths to ensure that our website delivers a highly interactive and assistive experience for our customers. Since launching almost 5 years ago in May 2005, RaboDirect.ie has grown its customer base to almost 65,000. They are one of the few banks to have embraced social media and are active on Twitter and Facebook, growing their Facebook fans to over 2,500 in just 4 months.
They're also the only bank in Ireland actively engaging with customers on their blog. "We're talking, we're happy to do so and our customers are responding exceptionally well to this.
